It is amazing how Pokemon is famous around the world. As you may know, Pokemon, comes from Pocket Monster, is originally a Japanese animation program about its main characters’ trip to become a Pokemon Master with their Pokemon.

I found that it is interesting to see the names of these Pokemon.
There is a Pokemon named Abra.   The evolution version of this Pokemon is Kadabra.   The evolution of Kadabra is Alakazam. Abra-Kadabra-Alakazam.  These three Pokemon can use magical power, of course.

It is also interesting to compare these names in English to in Japanese.
Most of Pokemon resemble animals, bugs, and plants, and named after accordingly.
For example, Pikachu, the most famous Pokemon, looks like a mouse with electric tail is named after the sound of lightning (’pika’ in Japanese) and how a mouse goes (’chu’ in Japanese). Pikachu is called the same in Japanese.   So as Butterfree, which looks like butterfly.
Meowth, another famous Pokemon, looks like a cat, is called ‘Nya-th’ in Japanese. In Japanese, a cat goes
‘nya’ instead of ‘meow’.  Easily understandable.  I personally like this comparison: Ninetales, a fox-like Pokemon with nine tales, is called ‘Kyu-Kon’ in Japanese (’kyu’ is nine, and ‘kon’ is a root and how a fox goes in Japanese).

Bearbrick series come up with collaborate works with many famous companies.  MediCom Toy has produced a series figure called Kubrick previously to the Bearbrick, and that became a successful sales item:  The company produced Kubrick only limited numbers and have not re-released, which makes the collectors eagerly search for the limited ones.  The Bearbrick Series 18 was introduced and can be looked at its site.

The 48th Shizuoka Hobby Show was held on May 14 to 17 this year in Shizuoka Japan.  This annual exhibition of scale models started in 1959 for the first time.   This year, 82 RC and model manufactures joined the show to exhibit, while 161 groups of amateur RC and model fans, or modelers, also joined to exhibit more their works, total of more than 5000.  They are not professional, but they are all skilled model makers.   Those skilled works includes cars, aircrafts, ships, characters, and others.

Among Hasegawa, Bandai, Tamiya, Fujimi and other model kit makers, Kyosho, a RC and model manufacture also joined this show as well.   RC and model kits of all these manufactures are available on Yahoo Japan auctions.
