Plastic models

Japanese plastic models seemed to start with studying those from overseas.  The Japanese model makers have been working on for about 50 years to earn the good reputation of those models at the present.  There are scaled models, character models, and radio-controlled models. It is amazing to see how accurate some of the plastic models are!  Among many, the plastic models of the characters, like Gandum, are favorable for those fans!!  It must be fun to make,  fun to display, and fun to collect other related items.

Dragon Ball

Ryu Murakami (Novelist)

Ryu Murakami wrote his debut novel “Almost Transparent Blue” in 1976 and won the Akutagawa Award.  The themes of his works usually related to the problems in the society, including sex and drugs.   Because of his themes, some readers avoid his works.  But, it seems that he has been providing readers opportunities to think the problems over.  ”Coin Locker Babies,” a story about two boys who were left behind in a coin locker by their mother, was based on a real case.  A film version of this story is now in producing, starring Val Kilmer, Tadanobu Asano, Asia Argento, and directed by Michele Civetta.   He also wrote a book for young people, ” Hello-Work of 13-year-olders”(2004), which is like a creer guide book.  He also works as a chief editor of the Japan Mail Media online since 1999. Studio Ghibli

Have you ever heard of any of the following animation films?  ”Laputa: Castle in the Sky,” “My Neighbor Totoro,” “Kiki’s Delivery Service,” “Howl’s Moving Castle” “Spirited Away.”  They are all films of Studio Ghibli,  a Japanese animation film studio established in 1985.  Ghibli means hot wind blowing through the Sahara Desert in Libyan:  It is said the establish-er and a famous Japanese animation film director Hayao Miyazaki willingly named so that the studio is blowing a new wind into Japanese anime industry.  The film ” Spirited Away”(2001) won the Oscar award  for the Best Animated Feature, and also the Golden Bear award of Berlin International Film Festival.  Director of this film, Hayao Miyazaki won the Golden Osella award of Venice Film Festival in 2001.  Most of Ghibli films are directed by Miyazaki or Isao Takahata another famous Japanese anime director who has worked with Miyazaki for a long time.   Ghibli films are basically created as fantasies aiming at children.  The movements and the expressions of the characters are smooth and natural.  An article mentioned that Mr. John Lasseter of Pixar is a fan of Miyazaki films which inspire Mr. Lasseter new ideas.
