Yuna Ito, a Japanese actress and J-pop artist was born and raised in Hawaii.  Her talent in music has been outstanding since she was little.  She started her career in Japan as an actress in 2004, and as an artist in 2005.  In 2008, she released a music CD titled ‘A World To Believe In’  singing with famous Celine Dion.   The song is beautiful and touches the audience’s hearts.

It is very pleased to know that there are quite a few internationally famous Japanese novelists.  Yukio Mishima, Ryunosuke Akutagawa, Jiro Akagawa, Banana Yoshimoto, and so on. 

Haruki Murakami is one of the most famous Japanese novelists around the world.  His work ‘Norwegian Wood,’ originally published in 1987, has been translated in many languages including in Norwegian.   It is about a ‘love story’ of a 37 year man, remembering back to when he was in a university.  It is not a lively love story, but rather bitter and makes you to think. It seems that this novel will be filmed by a French director in 2009.

It is surprising to know that there are many Japanese manga published in many other countries.  For example, a Japanese manga One Piece is published in USA, England, Australia, and New Zealand as well.  One Piece is a  manga about a boy named Monkey D Luffy traveling to the end of a dangerous ocean to find the great treasure ‘one piece’ , in order to become Pirate King with his fellow crew.  The story contains some battle scenes, but mostly the plot seems to be focused on the adventure and the friendship.
